GreenView Estates Wins Energy Award
Green Buckeye congratulates Central Ohio's MiraCit Development Corporation on garnering the 2008 Inspiring Energy Efficiency IMPACT Award from the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance for the GreenView Estates "green" subdivision project. Partners in the project include the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio, and the Affordable Housing Trust.
Dr. Edgar Posey of Miracit, Susan Ashbrook of the City of Columbus, and Meera Parthasarathy of Columbus Green Building Forum will accept the recognition at MEEA's annual conference in Chicago tomorrow.

CGBF Announces 2008 LEED Workshops
Columbus Green Building Forum is presenting a number of LEED workshops this year. Precise dates and times have not yet been announced, but you can check the CGBF web site for the latest details on these upcoming programs:- LEED for Schools - Technical Review, March 2008

Reminder: Rocky Anderson Speech Today!
Rocky Anderson, the Salt Lake City mayor internationally recognized for his leadership in sustainability and environmental issues, speaks today at the Green Building Forum around noon. By the way, you can register on site at the Athenaeum if you haven't already registered online.The Columbus Green Building Forum is also sponsoring a the Green Residential Showcase on Saturday. You can learn about creating a rain garden in your yard and choosing green materials for use in your home among other activities. And if you've been curious about the Home B.A.S.E. project, satisfy your curiosity by taking a tour! More details are available in the Green Buckeye calendar.

Rocky Anderson at Green Building Expo
Are you planning to attend any part of the Green Building Expo '07 at the Athenaeum on Thursday? A friend and I have registered for the Rocky Anderson keynote address, and I'm looking forward to an inspirational boost! Anderson is the mayor of Salt Lake City, and he is internationally recognized as a leader in sustainability and environmental issues.The keynote runs from 12 - 1:30 p.m., and it costs $10. You can register here for the keynote, the entire conference, or morning or afternoon sessions you might be interested in attending. The associated trade show is free and open to the public.

USGBC Chapter Forming in Central Ohio
For those with a keen interest in LEED, Meera Parthasarathy of the Columbus Green Building Forum invites you to attend an organizational meeting to establish a chapter of the US Green Building Council in Central Ohio. Meera writes:"This formation effort involves members from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, Ohio School Facilities Commission, central Ohio's educational systems, Ohio State University, C-Tec (Licking County vocational school), City of Columbus and the Columbus Green Building Forum.Please RSVP to Meera by 11 am, September 4th.
The goal is to develop a robust chapter locally by having active members in the community, on the leadership team, who have a keen interest in promoting green building practices and adopting LEED into their projects.
Come hear about the progress to date, next steps and ways to become involved in this important effort for our region and communities! Please join us on September 4th at AIA Columbus from 4:30-6:00 pm (21 West Broad Street, Suite 200). "

CGBF LEEDs the Way
Over at the Columbus Green Building Forum, Meera Parthasarathy and company are laying the foundations for the practice of green building design. If you're a building industry professional in Central Ohio and don't know about the CGBF, you owe it to yourself to check them out!If you're interested in energy modelling for LEED buildings, CGBF is sponsoring a workshop on eQUEST software.
